Reading Program

To deepen the love of reading among Filipino children, SAS runs a 31-day in-classroom Reading Program for all Grade IV students in partner public schools.

Read-A-Thon

• 31-day reading marathon using storybooks and creative classroom materials.
• One hour a day is set aside for reading activities.

Teacher Training

• World-class, two-day workshops for Grade IV teachers and their principals.
• Thow Master Trainers attend each day of the workshop.
• One Group Facilitator for every 12 participants.

Reading Carts

• Each school receives a brightly colored Reading Cart to house its story book collection.
• The Cart serves as a mobile library and can be rolled from classroom to classroom for children to enjoy for years to come.

Celebrate Reading

School-wide events where the Grade IV students of participating public schools creatively showcase what they have learned and are recognized for their accomplishments.

Storybooks

A collection of 60 to 80 storybooks for each Grade IV classroom; carefully selected based on the following criteria:

• Readability Index
• Literary Value
• Filipino Family Values
