Campus Journalism debuts at Petron Programang Kaakbay

Petron once again sponsored a series of Enrichment Workshops for Gurong Kaakbays on in-demand topics such as Classroom Management, Storytelling and Campus Journalism, which, in particular, was offered as a whole-day workshop for the first time in the Programang Kaakbay. Writers Edge, led by husband-wife team Bitan and Sheila Pesayco, conducted two separate workshops for a total of 176 Gurong Kaakbays from the NCR, Regions 1, 2, 3, 4-A, 5, 6 and 12 on February 21, 2009 and March 14, 2009 at the Petron MegaPlaza.

Due to the growing number of active Gurong Kaakbays now numbering 398, four separate Enrichment Workshops were held. The ?Extreme Challenge! Classroom Management? Workshop by Ms. Rhoda Nicdao of the Ateneo De Manila Education Department was offered again to new Gurong Kaakbays on February 22, 2009 also at the Petron MegaPlaza. On March 19, 2009, Kuya Bodjie Pascua conducted a Storytelling workshop in Isabel, Leyte.

Malu Erni, Executive Director of the Petron Foundation, welcomed the Gurong Kaakbays to kick-off the series of Enrichment Workshops for the first half of the year 2009 as part of the Petron Programang Kaakbay.

Petron?s support to Sa Aklat Sisikat, which began in 2002, has made an impact in the lives of over 600,000 elementary school students across the Philippines to date.

Authors Grace Chong and Pido Aguilar were invited as inspirational speakers for the enrichment workshops.
