UPS-SAS Partnership

United Parcel Service is now a partner of Sa Aklat Sisikat Foundation in building a nation of readers. Last January 28, 2005 a ceremonial check turnover was held at the Petron MegaPlaza. SAS President Margarita L. Delgado, welcomed the UPS representatives and described in detail the SAS Reading Program. Present were SAS board members Monique Villonco and Bobby de Ocampo and UPS representatives Jonel Guitap, Tanie Eio, Kelly Lau, Rolly Nierva and Jeff Wilson. Mr. Wilson, in his speech, talked about the values that UPS hold high: literacy, hunger and volunteerism. He believes that SAS and UPS share the same vision and mission. The P1.8 million contribution will fund the implementation of the reading program in 15 public elementary schools in Angeles City, Pampanga at the end of June 2005. UPS representatives were happy to know that through their grant SAS will distribute 4,880 new storybooks benefiting more than 2,700 students and training 76 teachers and principals.
