The SAS Reading Program is a Success in the City of Balanga

Sixteen public elementary schools in Balanga City, Bataan had successfully completed the 31-day SAS Reading Program. It was concluded by the Turnover Ceremony last August 23, 2004 at the Bataan People Center. City Mayor Melanio Banzon, DepEd Superintendent Dr. Raulito Moscoso and SAS Operations Manager, Ms. Gina Lomotan awarded Reading Carts to the 16 participating schools for the fruitful implementation. The Ceremony signified the acceptance of the City Government and the Department of Education of the challenge to sustain the Reading Program in the City of Balanga to attain the vision of building a nation of readers. A total of 41 sections and 1,696 students took part in the Reading Program, and 46 Grade IV teachers and principals were trained and 2,460 storybooks were distributed for the implementation.

The City of Balanga, Bataan is the second project site for the implementation of the Reading Program of the Sa Aklat Sisikat Foundation for the School Year 2004-2005.
