Books for Asia

The ASIA Foundation recently turned over thousands of imported storybooks and reference materials to the 17 public elementary schools in the City of Marikina last June 10, 2004 at the L. Victorino Elementary School. The 16 Coke Little Red Schoolhouses also received a box of the donated books last May 22, 2004 at the SEAMEO Innotech, Quezon City.

A total of 14 boxes of assorted books, SRA Science kits and educational CDs are also scheduled for donation to 14 public elementary schools in the City of San Fernando (Pampanga) on 18 June 2004. The turnover ceremonies are to be held at the Dolores Elementary School.

“In line with SAS Foundation’s objective of putting a book into every Filipino child’s hand, we are committed to donating at least a box of assorted books and reference materials for all the public schools that have been a part of the SAS Reading Program since 2001,” announced Efren Balajadia, Philippine Director of the Asia Foundation’s Books for Asia Project. At the end of SY 2004-2005, the Books for Asia program would have donated approximately over 20,000 books and multi-media materials.
