Author's Notes:
A poignant story about a boy's childhood during the Japanese occupation. The Filipinos' industry and ingenuity helped them survive. The buy-and-sell system became prevalent in order to make use of anything that could be sold or exchanged. Children also suffered the difficulties of their parents. This was clearly against the Convention on the Rights of the Child which safeguards every child's right to special protection during times of armed conflict.
